Robot Control and Recognition Systems Team
Robot Control and Recognition Systems Team (Zespół Programowania Robotów i Systemów Rozpoznających) is a part of
Institute of Control & Computation Engineering in
The Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology at
WARSAW UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY
There are several
people and
students working in the team. The portal consists of theirs
publications,
projects & grants and
courses. There are also
events,
gallery,
hardware description and usefull
files. The young students have the robotic interest club
Bionik.
Interests of the group focus on the following general themes:
- Robotics
- Image and sound processing
- Digital design
- Real time programming
Our main goal is to construct a robot that could operate efficiently in the natural environment as well as human-created surroundings. In order to achieve this we have to solve multiple technical and research problems. The basic ones are:
- Synthesis of robot action plans matching the specified goal
- Execution of the above mentioned plans depending on the current state of environment
- Identification and processing of images
- Speech recognition and audio signal processing
- Sense of touch, the ability to recognise force and momentum
- Methods of robot programming with connection to architecture of control systems
- Generation of robot movement trajectories
- Equipment for robot control and sensor interfaces
- Real time programming
- Fusion of data from various sensors
- Robot calibration
- Control algorithms
Majority of work conducted by our team deals with advanced applications of computer sciences. Basic tools that we use are: the QNX Neutrino operating system (a real time system), Linux and C++ language. Our aim is to create one frame structure that would serve as a programming platform for all research programmes. Presently this position is held by MRROC++ developed by our team. When using this software, one can learn the rules of constructing frame structures, synchronous programming, real time system programming and the principles of writing control software. The creation, maintenance and problem solving in such software can be considered the most demanding challenge for a programmist. All ambitious and willing to experience intellectual adventures are invited to cooperate with us.
Cooperation:
Our team actively cooperates with employees of the following institutes of Warsaw University of Technology:
- Institute of Aeronautics and Applied Mechanics
- Institute of Computer Science
- Institute of Automatic Control and Robotics
- Institute of Control and Industrial Electronics
Following subjects form the basis of this cooperation:
- Construction and control of prototype robots (both manipulators and vehicles)
- Identification and processing of images
